Contract Brewing in Northern California
Anderson Valley Brewing Company has brewed in Boonville, California since 1987 and has produced beer for partner brands since 1999.
Our service gives new and growing brands access to a TTB-licensed Mendocino County facility with three brewhouse tiers — 10 BBL for pilot and R&D, 70 BBL for regional launches, and 100 BBL for scaled production. We brew, package, and warehouse craft beer, non-alcoholic beverages, cider, and ready-to-drink cocktails for brands shipping across the West Coast and beyond.

Why brands choose AVBC
One Partner, From Pilot to Scale
Anderson Valley Brewing Company operates three brewhouses side by side — 10 BBL, 70 BBL, and 100 BBL — so you can pilot a recipe, validate a regional launch, and scale to full production without changing supplier, recipe consistency, or relationship.
Start small, prove the recipe in market, then scale into the 100 BBL system on the same yeast strains, the same brewhouse, and the same brewing team with the licensing, packaging, and freight taken care of.
Three production tiers, tuned to your stage.
Pick the tier that matches where your brand is today — and scale up on the same equipment, yeast, and team when you’re ready.
Pilot & R&D
Recipe R&D, small-batch sensory rounds, and sample packs for distributor and retailer pitches.
Regional launch
Validation production and mid-volume seasonal releases for one to three states of distribution.
Scaled production
Committed annual contracts and year-round core SKUs with predictable, repeatable volume.
Packaging formats
In-house packaging across cans, bottles, and kegs — with TTB COLA filing and labeling handled for you — then freight coordinated from Boonville to your distributor or cross-dock of record.
Contract brewing and co-packing
Two related arrangements — the right one depends on how much control you want over licensing and excise tax.
Contract brewing
We brew under our license; you own the recipe and the brand.
Co-packing
Packaging-only — you supply finished liquid, we fill and pack.
Common questions about contract brewing.
What is the process for Contract Brewing with Anderson Valley Brewing Company?+
Submit the form below and we’ll follow up to learn about your project and confirm which brewhouse tier fits. From there you’ll get a written proposal covering pricing, minimum order, lead time, and terms. Once the contract’s executed, we schedule production, brew and package to your spec, file your TTB COLA, and coordinate freight from Boonville to your distributor or cross-dock.
How does contract brewing work?+
In contract brewing, a brand works with an established brewery to produce its beer. The brewery handles brewing, packaging, and federal excise tax obligations under its own TTB license. The contracting brand provides the recipe or concept. At Anderson Valley Brewing Company, we brew on a 10, 70, or 100 BBL system depending on your production volume, handle ingredient sourcing, package to your spec, and file your Certificate of Label Approval on your behalf.
What’s the minimum order at Anderson Valley Brewing Company?+
Minimum batch size depends on which brewhouse fits your project. Our 10 BBL pilot system supports recipe development and small-batch runs, our 70 BBL mid-scale system suits regional launches, and our 100 BBL production system handles committed annual contracts. Request a quote and we’ll match your project to the right tier and confirm the current minimum.
What does contract brewing cost?+
Pricing depends on your recipe complexity, ingredient sourcing, packaging configuration, and committed volume. Most contract brewing arrangements price per barrel produced plus packaging-line charges and warehousing if required. We provide written proposals after a discovery call so you see total landed cost — not just a rate per barrel.
Do you offer alternating proprietorship?+
Not at this time. Anderson Valley Brewing Company operates as a contract brewer and co-packer — we hold the TTB license and handle federal excise tax and COLA filing on your behalf, which is the simplest path to market for most new and growing brands.
Can you package product brewed elsewhere (co-packing)?+
Yes. In addition to full contract brewing, we offer packaging and co-packing — including repacking and variety packs — through our canning, bottling, and kegging lines. Tell us your formats and volumes and we’ll confirm fit.
Where do you ship?+
Anderson Valley Brewing Company distributes across more than 25 states and 6 countries. We ship from our Boonville facility to cross-docks, your warehouses, distributors, or carrier of choice. Most major Pacific markets are within easy truck reach.
What beverages can you produce?+
Craft beer (ale, lager, IPA, stout, sour, and barrel-aged styles), non-alcoholic beverages, cider, and ready-to-drink cocktails. We currently do not produce CBD or cannabis-infused beverages.
Do you handle TTB COLA filings?+
Yes. Anderson Valley Brewing Company files Certificate of Label Approval submissions with the TTB on behalf of contract partners. We track approval timelines and notify you of any TTB feedback so your launch date doesn’t slip.
Can I visit the brewery before signing?+
Yes. We host facility tours for prospective contract partners by appointment. Tours typically include the brewhouse, fermentation cellar, packaging lines, and warehouse, plus a working session with our brewing team. Submit the form below to arrange a visit.
What certifications does the AVBC facility hold?+
Anderson Valley Brewing Company is licensed by the TTB under Brewer’s Notice BR-CA-21567 and by the California ABC under Small Brewer’s license 23-668207. We file TTB COLA submissions on behalf of contract partners and keep compliance documentation available to clients on request.
