“Hey, careful, man, there’s a beverage here!” Sometimes we know what our friends will order before they do. Whether it’s before dinner or at a wedding they study the cocktail list with a look of intensity and then, bam, they order the same exact thing they’ve been drinking since college; a White Russian, Gin and Tonic, Whisky Sour, or a cold glass of rosé. We’ve got nothing against that, but sometimes it’s fun to help expand horizons. As a lifelong brewer with a strong creative drive I love experimenting and making unexpected beers to challenge people’s palates and perceptions. I know plenty of folks who only drink tequila with their tacos or bourbon with their bbq, and that’s fine. We all have the old standby; our go-to comfort booze. But, when you’re ready to branch out and try something new, I’ve got a beer for you.

If you’re a wine drinker…

In Anderson Valley, we’re known for our cool climate vineyards which produce some of the best sparkling wine outside of Champagne. It’s cool, it’s crisp, it’s bubbly and refreshing. If it’s your go-to glass with lunch or a mimosa at brunch, you’re not alone – sparkling wine is one of the most food friendly beverages on the planet. It’s acidity, minerality, and carbonation pair well with everything from the most delicate oysters to the juiciest steak; a rare quality in a beverage. Next time you find yourself craving something with a little salinity, acidity and a hint of sweetness reach for one of our goses. The tart, herbal characteristics combined with a hint of fruit make it the ideal beer for even the most diehard wine connoisseur. As a food pairing, there’s a gose to go with everything. Serve in a snifter or wine glass for an eye-opening olfactory enhancement.

Framboise Rose Gosé

If you’re a fan of sparkling rosé wine I’d recommend our Framboise Rose Gosé. At just 12 IBUs this kettle-soured beer is a mélange of flavors and aromas and redefines most people’s flavor profiles when they think of a beer. With a light ruby hue, subtle raspberry fruit notes greet the nose and fall soft on the palate; tangy, hibiscus-like flavors mingle with the salty tartness of gose to create a uniquely complex and refreshing drinking experience.

Prefer a Sauvignon Blanc? Our Blood Orange Gose is crisp and dry with citrus notes and a brightness that Sauvignon Blanc drinkers look for. As will all our Goses, the subtle salinity carries the fruit flavors and makes this beer a perfect pairing for any dish that would call for a refreshing white wine.

Cherry Gosé

Ah, Pinot Noir, the haloed Burgundian varietal that grows so well here in Anderson Valley. While we won’t claim to approach Premier Cru status, the bright cherry flavors and mouth watering acidity of our Cherry Gose are a perfect pairing for earthy mushroom dishes or roasted chicken.

Feeling a Little More Spirited?

Is there ever a bad time for a cocktail? Ok, don’t answer that, but you get where I’m headed. Before, during, or after dinner these boozy nuanced beverages set the stage for an evening of merriment. Whether it’s our Bourbon Barrel Series that will transport you to the rolling hills of Kentucky, or the refreshing tropical notes that set the stage for an exotic vacation we’ve got a beer for that.

Old Fashioned Bourbon Barrel Beer

If you enjoy bourbon you’ll find comfort in our Barrel Series. In particular, if you’re a bourbon on the rocks purist you’ll love the warmth and rich aroma of oak, baked bread and caramel found in our Huge Arker Imperial Stout. Old Fashioned more your speed? We’ve got a beer to get you in that gear. Part cocktail, part beer, our bourbon barrel aged Old Fashioned ale is brewed with orange peel and Hersbrucker hops, which naturally have orange-like flavors. Fresh cherry puree is added towards the end of fermentation along with aromatic bitters.

Searching for something light and refreshing to take the edge off the summer heat? If you’re into Midori cocktails of any kind you’ll naturally gravitate toward our Briney Melon Gose. The subtle addition of watermelon and the hint of sweetness make it perfect for the beach, patio or picnic.

Tropical Hazy Sour

Que horas são? Happy hour! You don’t have to be Brazillian to appreciate the Caipirinha. If you’re into tropical notes and citrus our Tropical Hazy Sour is sure to fit the bill. Serve it on the rocks in an old fashioned glass with a slice of lime for extra credit points. And why not?

Irish Coffee after dinner? Mix it up with a Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout and the aromas of freshly baked bread, espresso, toffee, and a creamy mouthfeel will warm up even the foggiest Mendocino evening.

And there you have it, a complete cocktail bar in the convenience of a can. No shaking, stirring or mixing required.

Cheers,
Fal Allen
