An All-Time Summer Fav Returns to the Lineup
It’s Not Summer Without a Solstice
We admit it, our brewery is a little off the beaten path but if it wasn’t, our beer wouldn’t be the same and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Anderson Valley is a source of pride, inspiration and independence for the beers we’re proud to brew here. In the summertime, it’s a particularly magical place as wildflowers bloom, the fog lifts, and our goats wander our pastures studiously ignoring us and hoping we go away. Typically this time of year our Tap Room would be buzzing and our beer garden filled with visitors from around the country who make the pilgrimage to Boonville. Clearly, due to the current situation that’s not happening but we are still working diligently to bring our brews to you wherever you may be sheltering. For those who’ve visited us in the past, we thank you, and to those who have yet to make the pilgrimage we look forward to meeting you when we can all confidently travel again. In the meantime, keep searching for us on shelves and in fridges near you – we are doing our best to keep them filled.
A Taste Worth Traveling For
You can’t have summer without a Solstice (its an astrological inevitability – Google it), but how far would you drive for a sip? Right after we shipped out our first batches of this year’s Summer Solstice we received a message from Christie in Knoxville, Tennessee. She’d browsed our AVBC beer finder but was unable to locate a local supply in her city, so she did the obvious thing and hit the road for a SEVEN HOUR ROAD TRIP to procure a supply of Summer Solstice. Needless to say, we heart Christie. For her dedication we sent her proof that we reserved an extra pallet of Summer Solstice just for her to make sure she can last at least until our Winter Solstice Ale hits shelves.
What Makes It So Good?
Our Summer Solstice is a crowd favorite and pairs perfectly with weekend camping trips, backyard barbecues and everything else that happens between May and September (we like Summer so we’re extending it a bit). We start with Magnum hops, which contributes hints of black pepper, nutmeg and a touch of citrus. The grain bill starts with pale two-row malt for sweet nutty notes and is finished with a blend of crystal malt (40L and 80L) for a rich caramel flavor and color and body. The whole thing is finished off with some secret ingredients that Fal guards with remarkable dedication. Since Summer Solstice debuted decades ago it has become a ritual for seasonal beer seekers everywhere. It’s a riff on our rich and cozy Winter Solstice Ale, which debuted first, and adjusted for warmer temps by making it a little lighter bodied but every bit as delicious. Fondly known as the “adult cream soda” it’s the perfect beer to enjoy on the longest day of the year. Search for a six pack today and celebrate Summer in Anderson Valley, where the goats roam with indignation.
