Tapping into the Origins of The Pilsner

This week, as we load the delivery trucks and prepare to send our conveniently named The Pilsner out into the world, we thought we’d take a moment to share its origin story – and just why we believe so deeply in this little lager that could. This isn’t just any Pilsner, it’s The Pilsner.

Why are we brewing a Pilsner? The story starts when Brewmaster Fal returned from his annual migration to The Great American Beer Festival. During his visit he began been talking with the other judges and settled on the idea of brewing a traditional historic draft-only series of beers, which we called our Brewmaster Series.

It was during this exploratory brewing process that Fal came up with the idea of brewing a classic German Pilsner, and we must admit that our initial reaction was not “Oh joy, a pilsner,” it was “why brew a Pilsner? They’re a pain, they take forever (a whole sixty days of lagering), and tie up a lot of equipment.” But, once Fal brewed a pilot batch we quickly changed our tune. It was really, really good. In fact, one could describe it as transcendental. It was one of the most delicious and beautiful beers we had ever tasted, so we started making more of it and put it on draft in our Tap Room where it repeatedly sold out as quickly as we could make it.

In fact, The Pilsner was such a hit in Boonville that we had a hard time keeping up with our draft-only demand and came to the realization that the world would be a better place if it just had a little more The Pilsner in it. On that note, we decided to catapult The Pilsner into prime time and offer it nationwide in six and twelve-packs so you can enjoy the biggest little secret in Boonville in your hometown. You’re welcome America!
