In 2007, they said a sour barleywine couldn’t be done. We set out to prove them wrong. This English-style strong ale is aged for nearly 2 years in bourbon barrels with our sour cultures, creating aromas reminiscent of earthy red wines, caramel, and honey. The bourbon character adds a savory, woody component that yields subtle notes of coconut and vanilla to balance the intense sourness and flavors of brown malt, toast, and ripe red fruit.
