It’s Blood Orange season…so make a cocktail!

img_1429

With December marking the start of Blood Orange season, we thought we’d take advantage of their raspberry-like citrus notes and create a refreshing holiday shandy using our Blood Orange Gose.  Inspired by an original cocktail recipe from our friends at Merchant in Madison, WI, we combine fresh blood orange juice, simple syrup, and our favorite bourbon, Wild Turkey 101, for an easy to make libation that you’re sure to enjoy.

Turkey Gose Wild Shandy

  • 1.5 oz Wild Turkey 101
  • 1 oz fresh blood orange juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 8 oz Blood Orange Gose

Shake and single strain into a pint glass, top with gose then add ice to fill glass.  Garnish with slice of blood orange.

OK so take Briney Melon Gose, add 3 tablespoons of ocean spray cranberry sauce with crushed whole cranberries in it, also add 5-6 Mt Ranier cherries (pitted, crushed) mix and drink before the fizz is gone.

I think a gose with those two added for the sour notes, but without brewing the cranberries or the cherries, just use ocean spray with their permission (which will sell a zillion bottles…they have a following) and the cherries just add an incredible tartness. I tried lime and lemon on top, too. Nahhhh Not in that combo. But the briney melon and cranberries tasted surprisingly good while adding the cherries sweetened it.

I think the cross selling of Ocean Spray flavor and its tartness just blends in perfectly. You can hang some cherries and cranberries from the antlers…. LOL !! A couple cases is all I ask, if its a hit. ~:)

And I have a FANTASTIC addition for you.

    Brace yourself.

Make a Gose with nothing added but toward the end, probably after brewing you would add about 2 tablespoons of the juice from a jar of blue cheese stuffed olives….or fresh from the grocery, Smiths carries them on their open bar and that particular brand is unbelievably good. The combo of sour beer and olive brine plus blue cheese, you will win a world prize. For that one, I get 4 cases. If its a hit. LOL. Have not thought to try jalapeno stuffed olive juice in briney melon but I will … Lots of room for the future.
