Tropical. Hazy. Sour.

Why did we make this absurdly delicious, lightly tart and tropical flavored hazy beer? Because we really wanted to drink one and hadn’t seen anything quite like it anywhere. And we have a brewery and can do things like that. Allow us to explain.

Springtime in Anderson Valley is a magical and transformative time. As the days start getting longer and the sun starts shining warmer we look for a beverage to pair with the weather and this place. We wanted something with a lot of flavor and character, but still light and refreshing so we could enjoy our time being active outside and with friends. The Tropical Hazy Sour is the beer we dreamed up for this.

The beer is brewed to be pleasingly tart and refreshing using a traditional kettle souring method, similar to our renowned and award-winning Gose series of beers. We’re good at this—our Brewmaster Fal quite literally wrote the book (Google it: Allen, Fal; Gose: Brewing a Classic German Beer for the Modern Era). Tropical flavors are introduced in the fermentation process through the use of real guava and passion fruit (known as the most passionate of all the fruits!). Finally, we found that leaving the beer hazy resulted in a more aromatic beer and added to the overall balance of the beverage. We did all this and then we did more. Through an enormous exercise of skill and wit, we kept it low-calorie and low-carb so now – as a bonus – the active, outdoor lifestyle folks out there have something new and meaningful to sweat for.

So there you go. Tropical. Hazy. Sour. From the redwoods to beach, and only 125 calories.
