Well folks, we’re officially two months into 2023. Don’t mind us asking, but how are your New Years resolutions coming along? Because ours are going great – not to brag. Setting into 2023 we decided that this was going to be our year for enjoying delicious beer without feeling guilty about the calories. What’s the secret, you might wonder? Well – it’s a little thing called Gose…

Gose Beer

Originally created in Golslar, Germany in the early 13th century, Gose is a traditional German-style wheat beer known for its tart and salty flavor profile created through open fermentation and water with a high saline content.

In 2013 the Gose style of beer was nearly extinct. Feeling adventurous, we began to experiment with the traditional method and after months of pilot brews and refinement of our kettle-souring process, we finally created our original Gose recipe which is the foundation for all of our flavored variations. It was an instant success and is credited with the revival and meteoric rise of the Gose style.

At Anderson Valley Brewing Company, making a great tasting, quality craft beer is our number one focus. It’s a bonus when a delicious beer recipe ends up being low-calorie too. You’ll be happy to know all our Gose variations weigh in at just under 120 calories.

Blood Orange Gose

Our Blood Orange Gose is an expression of how great a kettle soured beer can be. A careful hand during the souring process and liberal additions of blood oranges during fermentation impart tangy citrus notes that complement the bright Gose flavors, creating a complex and sessionable ale perfect for any occasion. Briney Melon Gose

Born from our passion for experimentation, our Briney Melon Gose boasts a thirst-quenching tartness that is perfectly balanced by subtle watermelon flavors and aromas. Gentle additions of sea salt create a refreshing harmony between the acidity and fruity sweetness leading to clean, dry finish. Learn more here.

Cherry Gose

Brewed with the juice of Montmorency sour cherries from Michigan, this kettle-soured beer is a burst of flavors and aromas. Bright cherry flavors mingle with the salty tartness of the Gose to create a uniquely complex and refreshing drinking experience. Learn more here.

Framboise Gose

Rose hips and fresh raspberry puree make our Framboise Rose Gose an unforgettable kettle-soured beer. With a light ruby hue, floral rose aromatics and subtle raspberry fruit notes and greet the nose and fall soft on the palate; fresh berry flavors mingle with the salty tartness of Gose to create a uniquely complex and refreshing drinking experience. The Holy Gose

The gateway Gose is credited with introducing the style to American craft beers fans. With a bright, golden color and tight creamy head, the earthy undertones in the Holy Gose develop a light mineral aroma with a hint of lemon zest and tropical fruit. The finish is dry, effervescent, and lemon tangy, reminiscent of a fresh sea breeze. Learn more here.
