We chucked the pumpkin and went straight from summer into the dark depths of Winter Solstice. For more than 30 years our Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale has graced the mugs and glasses of many a brumal celebration, and since we first started brewing this special beverage in 1990, our bready, lightly spicy, slightly floral, and mildly sweet beer has kept beer drinkers the world over, or at least on the American West Coast, thrilled and blissfully less chilled. And now we’re pleased to announce the seasonal arrival of the Winter Solstice.
One of our most beloved beers, this malt forward and ever-so-slightly-sweet winter warmer is balanced with light hop additions and at 6.9% AVB has just enough of a nip to keep ol’ man winter at bay. Its deep mahogany color, rich caramel flavors, toasted malt smoothness, dark cherry notes, and velvety satin finish will certainly satisfy every winter dream, that is unless it sells out- in which case you’ll be left in the cold.
As the leaves change and the first frosts of autumn arrive in the night, this winter warmer beacons us into an overstuffed leather chair, snifter in hand, to nod off in front of the last glowing embers of a fading fire… unless you happen to be reading this from a market south of the equator, such as Brazil, in which case we encourage you to crack open a Summer Solstice and send us a plane ticket to come celebrate with you. We promise to bring as many mini-kegs as we can cram into our carry-on.
